Is Missing Calls Losing You Business?

Clare Runham

It’s a familiar issue for sole traders, whether it’s squeezing into a small space, or being tied up talking to sub-contractors, someone always rings at the worst possible moment.

You either rush to answer it, often not setting the greatest of first impressions, or you don’t take the call – possibly costing you the chance of another job.

It may seem there’s no solution to this; it’s just another growing pain of being a busy sole trader. After all, it’s not like you can afford an office with a receptionist, is it?

Well actually, you could happily carry on with your work and ignore your phone thanks to our Virtual Assistant service.

At Miss MPS, we answer phone calls for our clients to ensure their existing customers are looked after, and prospective customers are given the best possible impression.

Decision making is heavily influenced by that first impression, where building trust is key. Having someone professionally answer your calls gives that big company feel, helping our clients stand out from their competitors, and improving their conversion rates as a result.

We don’t stop with just taking calls either: we can book appointments, diarise annual check-ups, prepare quotes and even chase invoices. In other words, all the jobs you’d expect from an admin team.

The difference is, you’re not paying for an admin! We are available on a ‘pay as you go’ basis, where we only work when you need us. For some clients, we’re a useful back up when staff go on holiday, whilst for others we are a more permanent solution for those who don’t want the hassle of hiring and managing an employee.

So what are you waiting for? Get in contact with Miss MPS today and we can start making your life so much easier.

Ah, winter. The season of cozy jumpers, steaming mugs of tea and, for gas engineers, the annual game of heating roulette. The moment that first cold chill hits, homes across the nation come alive with the sound of boilers groaning back to life—or not. Phones ring off the hook as panicked voices fill the line: "My heating won’t turn on!" or the classic, "It’s making this weird clunk-clunk-wheeeze sound—can you fix it today?!" For gas engineers, this is peak season—a chaotic storm of urgent calls, overflowing job lists, and the impossible task of answering the phone while also diagnosing a misbehaving boiler. But who’s answering your calls when you’re knee-deep in radiators and wrenches?

Chilly toes, waking up early to defrost the windscreen, and leaving work to the already dark skies—these are just a few of the frustrations that come with winter. While it may not be the end of the world, it's all the little things. And despite the festivity and Christmas songs playing on the radio, staying motivated at this time of year can be challenging. I'm sure many of you can relate to me when I say this. At Miss MPS, we understand how important it is to maintain well-being, especially during the busy winter months. As virtual assistants, we support our clients by alleviating stress from overwhelming workloads and tight deadlines. We also help them take well-deserved breaks and spend time with loved ones. However, looking after ourselves while caring for others is just as essential. Here are my top tips for staying healthy and motivated this winter:
