Time for a Spring Clean?

Clare Runham

Whilst we’re proud to be Virtual Assistants, we quite frequently work at the offices and homes of our clients as fully-fledged personal assistants too.

Our aim is to help small business owners use their time more effectively, so we’re also used to helping with ‘life admin’ as well as more traditional work-related admin jobs. For example, we recently jumped in to help with a client’s ongoing dispute with British Gas. Not only did they find this soul destroying, more importantly it was costing them valuable time – we picked up the phone an acted on the behalf of our client to get to a swift conclusion.

This week, we helped with a Spring Clean – a job no one particularly loves doing, especially when there are better things to do! Again, we stepped in to help and have managed to sell the likes of an iPhone, a wind deflector for a convertible car, and even some leather jackets! Our client got some money in their back pocket, created some extra room, and has avoided a job they may have put off for months (if not indefinitely!).

Other little jobs we’ve helped with recently include:

  • Compared utility costs and recommended the best option
  • Aggregated various loyalty cards into an Air Miles account
  • Organised filing and securely destroyed old paperwork
  • Researched holidays and best flight options
  • Entered birthdays into a client’s calendar
So there you go, we’re not just Virtual! If you’d like to discuss how we can free up your time to get on with more important things, get in touch .

Ah, winter. The season of cozy jumpers, steaming mugs of tea and, for gas engineers, the annual game of heating roulette. The moment that first cold chill hits, homes across the nation come alive with the sound of boilers groaning back to life—or not. Phones ring off the hook as panicked voices fill the line: "My heating won’t turn on!" or the classic, "It’s making this weird clunk-clunk-wheeeze sound—can you fix it today?!" For gas engineers, this is peak season—a chaotic storm of urgent calls, overflowing job lists, and the impossible task of answering the phone while also diagnosing a misbehaving boiler. But who’s answering your calls when you’re knee-deep in radiators and wrenches?

Chilly toes, waking up early to defrost the windscreen, and leaving work to the already dark skies—these are just a few of the frustrations that come with winter. While it may not be the end of the world, it's all the little things. And despite the festivity and Christmas songs playing on the radio, staying motivated at this time of year can be challenging. I'm sure many of you can relate to me when I say this. At Miss MPS, we understand how important it is to maintain well-being, especially during the busy winter months. As virtual assistants, we support our clients by alleviating stress from overwhelming workloads and tight deadlines. We also help them take well-deserved breaks and spend time with loved ones. However, looking after ourselves while caring for others is just as essential. Here are my top tips for staying healthy and motivated this winter:
