DISTRACTION!!!!!

Suzy King

Now that I have your attention, think how easy it was for me to distract you. You could have just been scrolling through a search online or through our blog posts and WHAM! - I got your attention with just one word.

Where is this going? Well, if it was that easy to get you here whilst you should be working, we should probably talk about it.

On average, you will get distracted every 8 minutes and you won’t get back to your original task for at least 5 minutes!

In Chad Brooks’ article he says that the number one distraction is mobile phones , but it could be your office phone, a client pestering you for help, work dropped onto your desk, or simply colleagues popping over for a chat.

Its time wasted that could be spent growing your business – probably what you had planned before the distractions took over!

Alternatively, you could be distracted because you want to be. It may be why you’re reading this very article because it saves another minute before you have to get on with that task that you really, really don’t want to do.

The solution?

It doesn’t have to be a dream world where you get to forward your calls on, or pass on those time sapping recurring admin tasks. Here at Miss MPS, we already do it for a variety of small businesses so they can focus on what’s important: winning, delivering and retaining business.

Our clients find that being able to dedicate 100% of their time to growing their company gives them a competitive edge. It also helps them fall back in love with their business – they get to actually do the things they like doing; the stuff they’re good at!

We’re also here for a well-earned break. No need to feel guilty about taking a holiday, or taking the afternoon off – with our call answering service you get to forward your calls on an on-demand basis. We’re like having your own customer service line, so nothing gets dropped in your absence.

Sound good? Well, Fred Masters at FJM Plumbers seems to think so!

Couldn't recommend highly enough and could not do without these guys! My business would literally collapse without them. Whatever you ask of them, they do it!

We handle Fred’s calls, appointments and keep his finances up-to-date too. That means he can focus on the jobs that earn him his money. It’s working so well, he’s had to hire more plumbers.

Ah, winter. The season of cozy jumpers, steaming mugs of tea and, for gas engineers, the annual game of heating roulette. The moment that first cold chill hits, homes across the nation come alive with the sound of boilers groaning back to life—or not. Phones ring off the hook as panicked voices fill the line: "My heating won’t turn on!" or the classic, "It’s making this weird clunk-clunk-wheeeze sound—can you fix it today?!" For gas engineers, this is peak season—a chaotic storm of urgent calls, overflowing job lists, and the impossible task of answering the phone while also diagnosing a misbehaving boiler. But who’s answering your calls when you’re knee-deep in radiators and wrenches?

Chilly toes, waking up early to defrost the windscreen, and leaving work to the already dark skies—these are just a few of the frustrations that come with winter. While it may not be the end of the world, it's all the little things. And despite the festivity and Christmas songs playing on the radio, staying motivated at this time of year can be challenging. I'm sure many of you can relate to me when I say this. At Miss MPS, we understand how important it is to maintain well-being, especially during the busy winter months. As virtual assistants, we support our clients by alleviating stress from overwhelming workloads and tight deadlines. We also help them take well-deserved breaks and spend time with loved ones. However, looking after ourselves while caring for others is just as essential. Here are my top tips for staying healthy and motivated this winter:
